Biofuels
Biodiesel is the only renewable fuel in liquid form available on the market. It is obtained from vegetable oils (canola, sunflower or others) and can be used as a fuel, either pure or in a blend. Its use significantly reducesCO2 emissions and cancels out sulfur emissions. It also ensures excellent performance in the performance of vehicles and heating systems.
Currently, Italy’s Biodiesel industry ranks fifth in Europe in terms of production capacity at around 1.5 mln tons/year.
The recent Interministerial Decree March 2, 2018 (the so-called Biomethane Decree) introduced an incentive mechanism for biomethane production and its use in the transportation sector.
The production of biomethane occurs through the biological decomposition of organic matter in the absence of oxygen in a process known as anaerobic digestion, and the feedstocks that can be used are livestock manure, FORSU, dedicated agricultural production and waste from gardening and landscaping management.
Such a product, when used as a fuel, being in a gaseous state greatly reduces particulate emissions and can be used by the same vehicles powered by natural gas or fossil natural gas.
Biodiesel Producers Union
ASSOCOSTIERI – BIODIESEL PRODUCERS is the representative association of the biodiesel producers’ sector.
The Association between companies operating in the energy logistics sector was formed in Rome on Feb. 24, 1983, on the initiative of a number of entrepreneurs who wanted to create an organization different from the others that would more incisively protect the irreplaceable role of primary distribution within the national market.
