SSLNG Watch – The LNG End-Use Supply Chain in Italy
In 2024, LNG demand is expected to increase slightly, but still below its maximum potential. Automotive continues to account for the majority of consumption, but registrations of LNG-powered heavy vehicles remain limited. Public transport shows a small increase, while LNG bunkering, which is expanding globally, could see significant growth in Italy thanks to new infrastructure. Future market prospects depend on regulatory and economic variables, with possible scenarios ranging between 450 kt and 800 kt by 2030.

ASSOCOSTIERI, established in Rome in 1983, is the Association of reference for companies operating in the energy logistics sector. In particular, companies active in maritime bunkering, owners of coastal, customs and tax depots of mineral oils, chemicals and LPG, biodiesel, and LNG regasification depots and terminals are members of the Association.
Mineral Oils
ASSOCOSTIERI, since its establishment, has always represented private operators in the logistics and energy market sector, who, in part, carry out storage and product handling service activities on behalf of principals who own the goods, and in part carry out marketing activities for their own products.
LNG
In order to comply with European regulations and make mobility sustainable in our country, ASSOCOSTIERI is committed to representing, accrediting and supporting the LNG storage, distribution and regasification sectors .
LPG
LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) is a natural by-product of crude oil and natural gas processes. It is characterized by high heat and energy yield and low environmental impact, is non-polluting to water and soil, and contributes significantly to the reduction of air pollution due to its low sulfur content.
Biofuels
ASSOCOSTIERI – BIODIESEL PRODUCERS is the representative association of the biodiesel producers’ sector.
The Association between companies operating in the energy logistics sector was formed in Rome on Feb. 24, 1983, on the initiative of a number of entrepreneurs who wanted to create an organization different from the others that would more incisively protect the irreplaceable role of primary distribution within the national market.
